Overview

Drive replacement modchips, also known as Optical Drive Emulators (or just "ODE") did not come around until the Wii era.

The original inception of such a device was the CrazyNation HDD DD replacement for the GameCube however nothing was produced publicly until the Wii Drive replacement modchips came about. First was the FlatMii, followed by the SunDriver, followed by the WODE and then the Wiikey Fusion.

The GameCube eventually gained its own ODE, the GCLoader.
