There are several methods of booting homebrew on your GameCube:

  • Datel's SD Media Launcher
    • Offers out of the box homebrew support - always need the disc to boot it up. Comes with a flimsy SDGecko!
  • Samson's AR loader
    • Hard to set up, can be annoying to load homebrew, but great if you have the materials to set it up.
  • Datel's Maxdrive Pro
  • PSOload
    • Requires an original copy of the game, and a BBA.
  • A drivechip such as XenoGC or DuoQ with a bootable disk of SDLoad or Swiss
    • Quick for booting backups and homebrew.
  • A drive replacement like the Wiikey Fusion or WODE
    • Very difficult to install, great for games, not so much for homebrew.
  • A modchip such as Viper GC with SDLoad installed as plugin
    • Quick to boot backups and homebrew.
  • A modchip such as Viper GC Extreme with Swiss on flash
    • Very quick to boot backups and homebrew.
  • A modchip such as Qoob SX / Qoob Pro with SDLoad / Swiss on flash
    • Very quick to boot backups and homebrew.
