Which Wii?

I want to get a WII but I want one that will be moddable? Preferably a hardware mod. Softmods are ok.
There are some really good Christmas deals going on and I don't want to get stuck with an unmoddable WII.
What should I be looking for?

I recommend you get a WODE. That way they're all hard mod capable
Edit: well, not from DVD-R on the latest ones, but HDD/SD via Drive emulators. Pretty much all you'll find in a store will not be able to play DVD-R.

If I want one that plays DVD-R's. I will have to buy a used one. What should I look for in a used one: Serial number? Manufacture date? etc?

howdy Hucklebuck and emu_kidid , if you go to a store and are able to checkout the Serial Numbers. Use a Mobile Phone or some other type of internet browsing device and goto this site.

Type in the Serial Numbers and verify what is capable of using DVD-Rs , me personally im not sure of which Drive Chips are able to read DVD-R.........emu_kidid may know that , otherwise ask here or goto WIIhacks Forum.
