Hi, I am going to buy a pair of iPhone 4 speakers and a switch headphone jack but i don't know what amp to use. I live in the UK so the only real way i can get a amp is from speaker (i think). So if anyone knows of a small amp you can get from speaker preferably from eBay would be much help. They amp has to have volume adjustment.

Im pretty sure that one only ships to the usa

Not ebay, but they ship anywhere usually free. Slow shipping yeah, but it's worth the wait in my opinion.

These 3w amplifiers are strong and use little power. I chose this one because it came without any buttons, and that's less work for you (moving buttons etc) Buy a 10k potentiometer to add your own volume control.

Alternatively this comes with both speakers and amp, 1w+1w if 3w is too much for you. Again, make your own volume adjustment.

If the volume control should already be on the amp I have tried this one and it is a beast. The volume knob has some size to it though (and you might want to add a potentiometer knob to it, but it will make it even bigger). Reason I prefer adding my own volume pot is because I get to chose size and exactly where I want it. Warning, this packs some LOUD sound. Do not underestimate 3watt amplifiers!


Fair warning, I do not know the rated nominal wattage of your speakers, if you exceed their nominal wattage they may sound distorted, stop working, and smell burnt (I put 10w on a 5w sub once and while the air was pumping out and it sounded really good it started smelling burnt in my entire room). Take a close look at the impedance too. Rarely an issue, but you want things optimal :)

The item in the first link you sent me is what i need i think. Can an wire a switching headphone jack and a volume potentiometer wheel to it?

here's an example of a 6pin pot from cable to amplifier which I have tried tested and working.

Here is an image of a 5pin wheel potentiometer (this is a 1kpot, but dont mind that)

It's pretty much the same, except the ground is connect both left and right together which is fine (that's how an aux cable is, jointed ground so 3 pins only, l r & gnd).

The one you have should definitively work.
