I got a sdml to try to load swiss and play backups, I load swiss fine on a 1gb sd card, switch to a 8gb fat32 card and load it into swiss, I can start games fine, then it goes to a black screen, some games like luigi's mansion will load the Nintendo logo but that's it , any ideas?

You picked the one game that has a history of it not working with Swiss, try the PAL version of Luigis Mansion or another game. The more info you provide the better

hehe, ironically that one booted the farthest, anyway, I have tried Mario sunshine and pokemon colleseum, they will boot but only after the sd card is formatted everytime, If I boot sunshine, play a little. Then try to boot it again, it wont boot unless the card is reformatted.

I need to test more with SDML it seems. This shouldn't be necessary unless if your ISOs are being corrupted somehow.

Fyi, its only isos I have problems with, I can play DOLs fine no matter what

oh. what settings are you using for games, the defaults? Try high level patch type on Mario Sunshine and don't have a disc in the drive. having the SDML disc in the drive can cause problems. When swiss asks you, say no to using a dvd disc.

Or also try 16mhz (compatible SD setting).

thanks I'll try that, I was using the disc drive option but with a real game, not sdml, I wasn't using high patch either

have you checked you isos?
md5sum and compare the results to this list: http://www.gc-forever.com/datfile/gc.dat
if you dont know what im saying then google "md5sum" or "how to md5sum"
that should give you the background info you need to understand how to verify your isos

also...just thought i would ask, but have you ever considered a modchip??
sell the SDML on ebay for 15$ and buy a 12$ xeno from APE viewtopic.php?f=18&t=1323

I have considered a modchip , but I don't like having to burn games, even just for swiss. My isos are fine, like I said they play once , then need to be copied again. They play fine in dolphin too.

the reason for a modchip is to directly load swiss from DVD without having to use sdml
then swiss will allow you to play those titles from SD...

no more sdml unknown factors....

it is - i was using SDML, too but i ran into so many random problems that were all gone once i chose a different way of booting swiss. believe me, SDML and Swiss don't go well together

I'm also trying sdboot as an alternative but it gets to "initialize with acmd41" and freezes

I wouldn't bother with SD-Boot. Try another SD Card, it sounds dodgy...

will do, also, Mario sunshine doesn't have any music in game, while your playing. Theres sound in the cutscenes + animations but that's it . Is that normal?

found the audio streaming option, new class4 8gb sdhc fixed it
