Sorry for my late reply. After checking, the part exists in our company. However, it's customized for specific customer only but not standard parts.
I'm sorry that we are unable to provide the parts to you.
Thanks for your understanding.
Pretty much to be expected from a custom part made for Nintendo. The fact megalomaniac got a tray worth is beyond surprising.

BUT:
" Its customized for a special customer and no standard parts"
Maybe there is a identical chip with a different pinout...

Is it too late to get on a list to get one of these: component, vga, optical audio board? I have been busy lately and just checked and it looks like I missed the train? Or is there going to be an adapter made for a later release? like plug n play(external)?

You're right that it is possible however very remote. If Nintendo footed the bill 100% Macronix may have been more than happy to design a custom chip by modifying an existing design rather than from the ground up. Assuming there were no contractual obligations forcing them to not allow it to be used elsewhere they may have allowed its use elsewhere.
On the other hand the design is very suited for the Gamecube and only the Gamecube. The main point of the custom chip was to prevent anyone else from being able to produce component cables for the Gamecube. Unless someone else wanted to have similar controls over their hardware such a chip would be less than useful or they might have other ways of handling this.
Frankly, the best alternatives are the following in order of cheap+easiness:
1)The board being developed here now
2)Wii+component cable
3)Grow older having your vision go with you making the point moot until Deus Ex is a reality
4)Wait for/design your own CPLD/FPGA based DAC replacement that can handle any output format you'd prefer

Yep, good luck getting settled back in man. Do you have anything lined up as far as work goes? What exactly were you doing before?

i could use a small break to clear my mind from the constant raping we all received....
as for having something lined up....no...
nothing lined up, just quit......almost anything at this point is better than what i did previously....
ive decided i want a job that i can make into a career...
not a career that turns into my life...
unless anyone has been thru that scenario of work vs life, then i wouldnt expect them to understand....
i think being a father is more important than not being around in order to satisfy accounts, physicians, and patients who dont give a shit about you as an individual...

google it...because i dont feel like talking about it...

So true. One day you are going to look back at your life and know you did the right thing. Small kids need your time, not your money.

Hello all,
I'm new to this forum, this thread brought me here.
I know it's not really the right time, with all the changes megalomaniac is going through at the moment…
But I own a PAL DOL-001 GC and I want to connect it to a vga monitor. The plan is to buy a naomi arcade cabinet with a vga screen and fit the gamecube into it, mainly to play ikaruga. (the arcade version is a bit overpriced, and I already own the GC disk…)
Since the official nintendo cable is clearly ovepriced, I would be interested to get one of yours. (And maybe try to help with the reverse engineering of the chip with some friends, who knows?)
If there is still some places in the waiting line, could you add me, please?
Thanks.

the list on page 25 is the "second run"
i still have not yet completed the first run if that tells you anything....
i will create a third and final run after i finish the first two...
....if things go right (which they never do) i expect the third run to happen about september...
stay tuned and make sure to sign up once the list is re-opened since its first come first serve....

hey guys, there is any way to made a vga cable or s-video on a gamecube that doesn't have the digital port. i have one gamecube that only have the analog port.

VGA is currently only available with MX chip
Svideo is only available on NTSC
Svideo pinout
Pin 6 GC = pin 1 & 2 Svideo = ground = GND
Pin 7 GC = pin 3 Svideo = luma = Y
Pin 8 GC = pin 4 Svideo = chroma = C

You could also get RGB and sync from the GC and someway convert the 15kHz sync to 31kHz so it works with most monitors, or find a multisync monitor that accepts the 15kHz sync signal as-is. Google LM1881 if you're interested, and you'll find more info.

Ok....
PAL GC does not have composite sync...
LM1881 accepts composite video signal to output csync or vertical..
The other chip LM1881 upgrade (forgot model #) will also output horizontal.
tests were done on PAL with LM1881...
didnt seem to work (possibly due to incompatible monitor unable to display 15khz signal??)
so to even test functionality of LM1881 requires a monitor capable of 15khz...
Then the next problem: if video display is then changed to 31khz, GC stops output of composite signal which is required by the LM1881....
It's a catch 22

You're talking about the LMH1980/1981.
Anyways, I tried what you described above some time ago, but unfortunately none of my monitors seem to accept 15kHz

And no luck finding a MultiSync either -.-
Then the next problem: if video display is then changed to 31khz, GC stops output of composite signal which is required by the LM1881....
Would you care to elaborate please?

Well, maybe I should have said during progressive mode composite video drops out and is no longer displayed on my monitor...
It appears to either lose composite signal and/or signal becomes unusable...
I wonder if both composite and RGB signal drops out on PAL also.....any testers ??
At a minimum, if composite video signal drops out or becomes unusable, the LM1881 wont properly create csync, vertical, horizontal...
If both composite and RGB are dropped/unusable, then its totally useless...
The AVE pinout shows ClkSel and 27mhz...
I would imagine when progressive mode is selected, the ClkSel pin on the AVE acts as a composite video signal cock block...
AVE-N & AVE-E should both function the same in this regard to ClkSel

does anyone with a PAL GC have an official component cable?
if so:
1. connect the official cable to your monitor/tv...
2. connect the standard multi-out RGB / composite cable to the monitor/TV....
3. verify both signals are present on monitor/TV
4. use swiss to force progressive 480p
does RGB/composite signal drop out on a PAL GC????

in 2. you don't mean both signals should be showing at the same time do you? I've tried this and in 2, only component shows.
