the qoob installation diagram shows one point for 5V:

about the 3.3V lines, i think ashen mentioned it somewhere in a thread....calling ashen to the rescue, over.

yeah thats one of the points I know but I am not shure if the point is usefull to handle with current of nearly 1A for a 2,5" hdd.
I have also found a 3.3V Point on the controller port. I think for the Wode this point gives enough current.

So the only question is if the 5V point is good to use for the hdd.

sorry, no idea.
but if ashen gets out his diagrams anyway, he also found an alternative 5V line if i remember correctly. not just the ampere question, but this soldering point is a pain in the ass anyway, really tiny.

yeah cause of this the current is very important. If on the line is to much it could end up in a damaged line. I have seen such problems at work with a 75KW motor with to thin cable. It just burns everything.

Forgot I had taken these with my phone. They're not labeled but its the best I can do atm. All connections are made to the capacitors where the wires are going. 5v is red wire, gnd is blue and 3.3v is the ide wire.

The 3.3v line possibly wouldn't be able to handle an extra amp but the 5v line will be no problem. I have been running a hdd of the 5v line with no problems what so ever.Just wire it to the 5v spot on Ashen's pic and your good to go.

I think I will do it a little bit different. I realy want to prepare a plug and play adapter so that I can take the Wode of the cube without desoldering anything. So I will prepare a voltage regulator which gives me 3.3 and 5V from the 12V line directly.

at this time I have prepared a USB connector on the backside of the cube. Its great to have a revisopn c cause there is enough space on the bottom where the dc/dc board normaly is.

he does someone know what problem it could be when the wode does nothing?

i have prepared a completly plug and play adapter with 3.3V and 5V regulator. now I tried to test everything. the regulator both work, on the wode slave board I have soldered 5V and ground and on the power plug 3.3V and ground.

the plug adapter to the gc mainboard is also good. messured everything 5 times. cant find any problem. does anybody know what it could be?

do I only have to solder 3,3V to the wode or also 5V and 12V?

Sounds like something got bridged that shouldn't have. Check real closely for shorts. They way you describe it sound like the built in regulator is shutting down to protect the GC.

could be but i havent soldered anything on the mainboard. the mainboard is a virgin. I have only soldered on the driveboard and the fan connection. but the problem exists also without the drive pluged in. I think I need to buy a new mainboard.

I was getting that same behavior (error) on 2.8 firmware. I had to revert to an earlier version to get things working.

The firmware I had the most luck with was the highest version you can downgrade to. v1.28 I believe. I'd start from that one and work your way up and see what works best for your setup. I remember having to do alot of fiddling about with stuff like this before I got it working proper.

Also have you set things up correctly in the WODE config? I forget what settings exactly there are off the top of my head and I do know that some new settings appear with the more recent firmware builds. Make sure everything is setup right there.

Also my WODE sometimes doesn't recognize the SD card is inserted unless I pull it out and reinsert it IF its inserted at boot. It always picks up the HDD, this only happens with the SD slot.
