They should work fine.
I have used Maxel Mini discs (Ritekg04) I got on ebay, they were like yellow and worked pretty well burning them with a Pioneer DVR-111d

My two cubes love these: Verbatim Mini-DVD
5 euros for 10, and they come from a brand with a name, without shipping costs ofcourse . Also I have the media code, which is a form of CMC (CMC AG 05 or something). They work better than the Dealextreme ones (handles higher ohm) and have less errors with PIPO scanning.

The CMC dye seems to work fine but not enough. I remember having Platimum discs that had a CMC MAG dye and didn't work that well
My older Memorex Mini DVDs with RitekG04 were great but unable to find them anymore.
Does BetaMedia ship to Spain. Expensive? 100 discs are too many...
How to do PIPO scanning? What are it's good values? I remember emu_kid writing an article on tehskeen maybe?
Thank you.

Download ImgBurn, put the disc in the drive and click on Write menu option. Inserted disc information is shown on the right.
I've attached an image of what it looks like on my Ritek G04 mini dvd-r.

Hmm, even the DOL-101 picked up the disc @ 200 ohm errorless. Not sure, but I think Verbatim ones have a better life than Ritek04 (and at least better than Ritek05, from what I heard ).albertocastillo2001 wrote:The CMC dye seems to work fine but not enough. And did a little loose scanning, and got better PIPO results with Verbatim than Dealextreme. But it's all about reflectivity, they say. Maybe if PIPO results are very bad, like Dealextreme ones were for me, they will suffer.

Well, that may be a good thing then. I had Plantimum discs and they weren't good.
How do you do those PIPO tests?
Thank you.

I used this thread: http://club.myce.com/f76/interpreting-p ... ans-80545/ . But I am absolutely no professional at this, just looking at some values from KProbe from a LiteOn IHAS124b.

I use these. They work great without POT Tweak. I have XenoGC chip.

I must say the Verbatim ones work great with my GameCube. Much better than the Platinum ones and I remember they had a CMC layer. These ones have a CMC one too but it seems much better
Re: Where to buy 8cm DVD-R/DVD+R GC-compatible discs these d
I've been buying RiData printable surface DVDs on eBay, about $7 for 10 or cheaper if you buy them in greater quantities. They're RITEKG04 discs. They mostly work for me, barring some bad burns I've had- which may be due to bad ISO files, bad discs, hard to say.

Radioshack Where I Live Used To Have Ritek G04,They Have Memorex Written On Them,I Have Had Them For Over 3 Years & They Still Work Perfect On My GameCube,I Use Imgburn To Tell Who Manufactured The Disc's,Just Like emu_kidid Shows Above
Re: Where to buy 8cm DVD-R/DVD+R GC-compatible discs these d
I've been cleaning out my collection for a sale and found a fresh pack of a brand that has worked OK for me in the past. Optodisc Acro Circle is what is shown on the top label. You can pick them up on eBay for an OK price. Definitely not my preference over the Ritek discs, but I've never experienced any problems with them. The Manufactuer shows up as "OPTODISCR004" in ImgBurn.

Re: Where to buy 8cm DVD-R/DVD+R GC-compatible discs these d
A quick FYI for anybody in the UK,
I have discovered by accident (and by extremely good fortune!) that...
MAXELL 8cm DVD-R
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300759111263
AND
Memorex 8cm Mini DVD Camcorder Essentials Kit
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Memorex-8cm-Min ... Mini+DVD-R
both have RITEKG04 media ID and both have worked for me sucessfully in two different gamecube consoles (with XenoGC v2 installed) without any POT tweak
Whether I just got lucky regarding not having to do a POT tweak or not I don't know, but the general census of opinion is that RITEK media is among the best for burning gamecube images.

Re: Where to buy 8cm DVD-R/DVD+R GC-compatible discs these d
Would like to post my results with two brands of mini-DVDs on my XenoGC GameCube. It's POT was adjusted to 60 OHM from the guy I bought the drive from. Don't have a multimeter, so I'm not gonna open her up and adjust it.
First are the DealeXtreme cheapo ones on the dx website. Those seem to work 100% for me. Only coasters I ended up making were the result of my DVD burner having bad drivers installed. (caused it to mis-read the blank disc's capacities among other problems.) I just uninstalled the drivers and let windows reinstall them. I think Daemon tools SPTD driver just somehow caused the drive to act funky and uinstalling drivers and restarting Windows fixed it. No issues since.
My burner gives me limited speed options for burning mini-DVDs. So slowest speed I could burn them at was 3.3x and fastest was 4x. I used both and saw no difference on the GameCube. They both booted with no DREs:
Here's the specs as listed by Nero's Disc Info tool:
The MID: AML
Manufacturer: Unknown
Then I recently bought more mini-DVDs, but this time from my local Wal-Mart. (oh the horror!)
These ones were Sony brand and ran me about 12 bucks for a 3 pack. Which seemed expensive to me until after I opened them and discovered they were double sided. (had data tracks on both sides of the disc). These were intended for Cameras I guess. But since they were double sided, that meant having a total of 6 data tracks to use. So the 12 dollars didn't seem as expensive now. These I suppose would be great for any games that have more then one disc to them since with these you can just flip 'em over. I don't play/own any of games that use more then one disc, so I just burned a different game on the other side.
These seem to work great on my GameCube. Not one single coaster.
The MID is: 80SONY-R0
Manufacture is of coarse Sony. These were branded "HandyCam" and advertised to use something they called "AccuCore". Probably some patented dye type they use for the data track. What ever. They work great on my GameCube so I suppose that works as advertised.
My drive only lets me burn at 3.3x with these. Was no other available speed options.
I used this burner to burn my discs. It was a DVD burner Blu-Ray combo drive. It's a laptop drive and is in my desktop PC via a drive bay adapter. Pretty nifty.
I think the physical sticker says it's a Lite-On drive. But the driver info says it's an HP brand drive. (this drive only reads Blu-Ray, doesn't burn them much to my disappointment)
The model number of my drive is: HP DVDWBD TS-LB23L 0600
I have a second drive but it's a slot loader and it's mechanism doesn't support mini-discs. So no idea if it can burn GameCube discs. I have been able to burn Wii discs with it though. I don't use the full sized PC optical drives anymore. They don't have any that use the laptop style tray machenism and the slot loaders I did find were too expensive. I'm OCD about these and like having control over the tray once it's ejected. I did not enjoy having the drive try and pull it's tray back in when I'm in the middle of inserting/removing a disc. So I said to hell with it and got a drive adapter and put in some laptop sized drives in.

Re: Where to buy 8cm DVD-R/DVD+R GC-compatible discs these d
I use Phillips mini DVD-R as I bought a 100pk on eBay for $36 and the price is usually around that most of the time. I didn't need them but I figured I'd try them out. I can also use the OEM gamecube game zipper cases I have with them. I did the pot tweak on 4 cubes to read them, all successful. I don't know the ohm number as I don't use a meter. I just turn the screw to the left about 1/16" - 1/8" at a time and test. No problems with that method. I've been lucky to have a cube read them without any adjustment. It was used so I don't know if it was messed with before me. Minis do load faster as the spin time is shorter but it's minuscule. They only burn at a max speed of 4x which is about 5 minutes for me.

G05, anything with a dark dye really helps.
