Help with swizz!

Post by kattenfnatten » Wed Feb 15, 2012 7:31 am

Hi!

I have been on the net for over a week now and trying to get some life into my gamecube again. Ordered a SDML disk and sd adapter from codejunkies... (are they good? read some bad comments about them).

But my question is.. If I use Swizz can I just use a SDGecko and make my sd card bootable (game store in my town has these) or do I need SDML disk or actionreplay disk? Some forums say that I must have a disk and some forums say that with Swizz you dont need a disk... I am confused... My primary goal is to load my old backups from the sd card.

Thanks from Stockholm

well first of all you need a way to boot homebrew code on your gamecube.
just plugging in a sdgecko with sd card is not enough. this is where sdml comes in.

your way of booting swiss would be the following:

SDML disk in drive, sd card with swiss.dol and game.iso -> power up the gamecube, sdml loader appears, select swiss.dol -> exchange sdml disk for a gamecube disc -> boot game.iso via swiss
please search before you ask - a lot has been discussed already!

Just as I thought then.. But do I really need to exchange the sdml disk for a gamecube disk? Thought that you did not have to do that with swizz?

Thanks for the help btw

first of all: stop calling it swizz.

and afaik the development of the discless booting of isos is still not finished so to be safe, boot with an original disc in the drive
