is the qoob shorting against anything perhaps? I had an intermittent qoob pro like that, re-wired it from scratch and insulated the back of it with some double sided tape, all the issues went away. If it's truly faulty, I'm happy to send you another for half price or something - just PM me to remind me.

Yes, will rewire+isolate carefully again. Maybe you did see, but I also ordered a Qoob SX, so will test that one to exclude my own solder work. And will try another GameCube, who knows.

Then a question. If I want to play NTSC games in 480p on PAL with a component cable, do I need the setting NTSC or Force 480p on the Qoob? Pressing button B in NTSC gives namely not the option if I want to play in progressive scan, but maybe I need a component cable attached first?

Force 480p will do it on the Qoob (games won't ask you to enable it so don't hold down B/etc).

Perfect. I was surprised because a NTSC game forced to PAL suddenly asked me about 50Hz or 60Hz.

I added a Qoob Pro to my Panasonic Q a couple months ago, and I had a question about the lid switch wire with the Q. I left it disconnected, and naturally it gives me the check lid switch wire error. So if I power on the console and open the drive, it will not load the game. I have to power it back off then back on. Is there anything I can do so that I can hotswap games?

Is there a way to add news action replay code on Qoob ?

update your QCH file and reflash it in the qoob

Thanks it works perfectly. However I don't understand why the QCH file takes 300ko before the update and, after adding few codes (AR code to play AX mode in F-Zero Gx) it takes 700ko.

File is compressed or something ?

Does anybody know how to flash the BIOS (I read that it should work) or even add data to the 16Mbit internal memory with the BBA on a Qoob Pro?

There's a bios upgrade .elf file in the release archives. I believe you need to boot the modchip holding D-Pad Left and then netcat the DOL to the cube on a specific port. It's documented somewhere in the readme I think.

I don't know if I am just too blind, but I can't find something like a readme anywhere on the net -_-
I just can find the standard flashing information and installation guides :/

Sorry, found some info on it in the 1.3c archive:
This release includes a network / dvd updater. Just run the
qoob_13c_upgrade.elf somehow (either by burning as iso9660 to a dvd
or by uploading per network).
And something I'd totally forgotten about the Qoob SX!
YOU CAN *NOT* BREAK YOUR SX BY FLASHING WRONG FIRMWARE
INTO IT.

The SX has an integrated "backup" bios. You can go
into it by holding the D-Pad to the left (D-pad is
the small digital pad at the lower left of the controller).
Do not boot the disc, you also have to press 'B'.

You *need* to start the upgrader from this bios. This
is done due to protect you from evil applications which
could otherwise erase your bios. Still, the backup
bios is read only and can't be erased.

So there's absolutely no way to kill your SX. If you flash
something else to it, all it would do is to stop
booting until you boot into the recovery bios.

To summarize it:

- Don't panic. You can't break your SX by flashing.
- You can't flash .GCB files, you need the .ELF updaters.
- To flash via DVD, you need to hold "D-Pad-Left" while
booting. Be sure to pad your disc to at least ~1GB of
data!
- To flash via Network, you need to hold "D-Pad-Left"+"B"
while booting. IP address will be 192.168.1.32. There's
no way to change that.

I even looked into some of the archives you linked to in the first post. But not that one :D Thanks :)

Crap, I wanted to flash .gcb files via Network. Now I have to think of something else! :D

It would be interesting if there was a way to flash GCOS into the Qoob SX, but the GCB has to be included somehow in the elf updater...

one can easily find the GCB inside the ELF and replace it..
