Bought a IDE/EXI from sm4rty a couple of months back and I finally managed to make me a power supply tray for an IDE HDD.
Tried a Maxtor 80GB model and used this to format in FAT32: http://tokiwa.qee.jp/EN/Fat32Formatter/
Placed my dumps on the HDD, but the first couple of times it didn't recognise.
So then I read I had to jumper to MASTER and that did the trick.
HDD is now recognised and shows files.
But, when I try to boot a game, I always (?) get a message 'file is fragmented' or it tries to boot APPLOADER.BIN (I'm using the GBA boot disc btw) and it hangs at a black screen.
Pretty sure the exact same games I tried did work with the SD WiiKey card.
Using port A and both 'fast' & 'compatible' settings behave the same.
Am I doing something wrong/forgetting a step?
Any help or ideas are appreciated.

Re: Still not working...
I'm having the "black screen" problem on mine homemade ide-exi, too. But it's more a "green screen" :/
Do you have any additional files on your harddrive or did you delete something after the formatation and then copyed the .iso on the hdd? That could cause the Filesystem to fragment...
If yes, try formating the HDD again. And then just copy the dump on the drive again.
Need to have a try on that for my 3.5" HDDSo then I read I had to jumper to MASTER and that did the trick.

Re: Still not working...
I noticed it shows up a RECYCLED folder and some others... which is weird to me.
I'll check if it's fixed by deleting these and check if it's possible to sort by name again first.
If that doesn't help, I'll reformat. (Did you use a different program or the same one?)
Also gonna try with another game disc in the tray.
(booting on white PAL Wii with probably most recent Swiss version)

Re: Still not working...
Shinebi, fragmentation support is not present, if the file is fragmented, expect it not to work..
Re: Still not working...
So how do I defrag that? I mean, it's just 1 iso file, can that be fragmented??
..or are you talking about the HDD itself maybe. (I un7-Zipped all from 1 HDD to the Fat32 Swiss HDD.)
Again, pretty sure it worked with a WiiKey...
