Help Making Bootable GCN Homebrew Discs
Help Making Bootable GCN Homebrew Discs
I've tried a lot of things trying to get a disc to build and run, but I can't seem to find one. What's the best way to get a homebrew disc to work?
Re: Help Making Bootable GCN Homebrew Discs
What are you trying to run? How are you trying to run it? Have you checked the wiki:

I've tried following the instructions, but when I look at the ISO in Dolphin, no info shows up and it doesn't boot. I'm trying to get a sample from devkitpro to work.dilav wrote: ↑Mon Oct 18, 2021 8:25 amWhat are you trying to run? How are you trying to run it? Have you checked the wiki:

Re: Help Making Bootable GCN Homebrew Discs
Do not use Dolphin to test whether it works or not. ISOs bootable may not work, executables may not work... Even games may not work. You will always need the console.
That's why SNES9xGX always has some problem. The author does not test on the console. Or didn't test...

Ok. Now, will the iso work on a Wii running Nintendont?Andross89 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 18, 2021 9:45 pmDo not use Dolphin to test whether it works or not. ISOs bootable may not work, executables may not work... Even games may not work. You will always need the console.

It didn't work.Maybe yes, maybe not. I don't have a Wii. But it doesn't hurt to try.
Re: Help Making Bootable GCN Homebrew Discs
You really need the console, my friend. There is a possibility that you are simply looking for a problem where you do not have it. It will just waste your time.
But you can try other versions of Dolphin, ask for help to the forum users from there. Or wait for help from another user here. Good luck.

I had not realized that you tested this ISO quickly. Did you burn on a disc and try to boot? I'd try.
Re: Help Making Bootable GCN Homebrew Discs
You'll be able to run Dols as well as ISOs from SWISS on either a GameCube or a Wii in GC mode. This only way you would be able to test real hardware compatibility.
Dolphin is going beyond what the GC has ever been able to do, without ever having been able to do everything the cube can do. This is not an accurate emulator!

Ok. I already have the Swiss DOL, so all I need is to put it on my SD card, right?Papy.G wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 6:12 pmYou'll be able to run Dols as well as ISOs from SWISS on either a GameCube or a Wii in GC mode. This only way you would be able to test real hardware compatibility.

Re: Help Making Bootable GCN Homebrew Discs
It makes no sense to want to start ISO by Swiss. You just need the executable. It would be a waste of space at the end of the day.
But if you want to do it anyway, let me know if it worked. I was curious about the result.
Just put everything you need in the root of the SD and start Swiss. It's pretty simple.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, using the executable.Andross89 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 6:49 pmIt makes no sense to want to start ISO by Swiss. You just need the executable. It would be a waste of space at the end of the day.

You need a way to load SWISS first, either a game exploit, or the SWISS forwarder from the HB channel.
