Re: Cloning the GameCube component cable
will the gc-dvi 2.2 on the shuriken v2 work on the wii? i would like to test it out this weekend if it does. If it doesn't have "wii" in the file name, it does not work on the Wii. I haven't built bitstreams with Wii support for the shuriken variants because I didn't have their schematics...

Re: Cloning the GameCube component cable
Oh boy is that the trick. I just finished reassembling my Wii and if there's a way to stick a Pluto in there I have NO idea where it's gonna go. I still find it a pain compared to the Gamecube... and I still have no idea where that tiny foam block goes that fell out when I took out the board. Is Oz...

Re: Cloning the GameCube component cable
Noob question: will the Pluto work for Wii as nicely as for GC? Yes, but I don't think you'll be able to fit it in the Wii's case. Also, you need to flash either the Wii or the GC bitstream to it, so using the same Pluto for both Wii and GC isn't really an option. Also, is there a Paddata-via for t...

Re: Cloning the GameCube component cable
Ah, fair enough Unseen. Though if it would be manually toggled (and by default it would be 720x480, instead of auto-detecting) would it still have lower compatibility? No, the problem is that some displays don't like non-standard resolutions/timings. Is it compatibility on a game per game basis or ...

Re: Cloning the GameCube component cable
Yes, I am aware of only a handful games rendering in 640x480, and it would only benefit those. But I thought if we can get clean scaling for those games, we can theoretically alter the aspect ratio with camera codes to maintain proper aspect ratio (even with square pixels on HDTV's as opposed to wi...

Re: Cloning the GameCube component cable
I have been thinking about the option to toggle the 80 horizontal active pixels in the 720x480 video standard to either on or off. That would result in a non-standard video timing though - real 640x480 needs a different pixel clock. Recently I was playing ocarina of time on the collectors disc and ...

Re: Cloning the GameCube component cable
Interesting change for the PadReader. Out of curiousity, why does it allow for the use of the LUTs as shift registers now? Using LUT as a shift register only works if you have strict serial in, serial out - the previous code also used parallel read when the data packet was complete, so the synthesi...

GCVideo-DVI 2.2 , now with: Infrared remote support (alternative to Pad) Wii support (don't even think about it unless you found that soldering the Paddata-Via on the Cube was really easy) Oh, and no - I don't have any videos or screenshots available and I can't make them any time soon because my D...

Re: Program Shuriken Video V3 Please Help!
So are you saying that it could of been programmed correctly already despite this error or? Not according to the log you posted. Do you think it could be like a hardware issue with the board or programmer? Probably hardware, but it could also be a programmer problem - the identification of the FPGA...

Re: Program Shuriken Video V3 Please Help!
At least that initialize chain shows that the chip is being recognized as far as I know. Anyone know what I am doing wrong or what the issue could be? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. Two things: 1) Impact only programs the chip that you selected - from the log you probably clicked on...

Re: [InProgress] Shuriken V3 GC HDMI - Info Recovery
C3 ? C4 ? Likely 100nF U1 XC3S50A QFP An XC3S200A could be used instead, that would allow the use of the full-featured version of GCVideo. U3 5V_REG_SOT23 U4 1_2V_REG_T0220 U3 should be AP1117E50G-13 and U4 should be MCP1826S-1202E/DB (maybe minus a few letters at the end, I'm too tired to check th...

Re: Program Shuriken Video V3 Please Help!
I am assuming I attach TDO, TMS, and TDI (and GND) to the shuriken board and the programmer? You also need to connect TCK and VCC to the programmer - and as someone else has mentioned, you need to supply power to the board. 3.3V and GND on the pins where they would be on the Gamecube are enough; al...

Re: Cloning the GameCube component cable
Current state of the Wii tests: Video works without any stray pixels/corruption after shortening the cables a few times. Controller works, cable detect pin might work (not hooked up yet), Audio doesn't work. Fixing that will require some trickery, because the audio sample rate actually changes when ...

Re: Cloning the GameCube component cable
Wow. They must have let the work experience kid design that section - one optional component is bad enough, but two? Think about it, it's actually zero optional components. It's not the first time I've seen such a "place resistor at either Rxx or Ryy" system in a device either. I suspect ...

Re: Cloning the GameCube component cable
Are you guys sure the cube/wii doesn't have two cable detect lines? From the software side there are two individual bits (in the same hw register) that are checked, one indicates the presence of a component cable and the other is used to detect a japanese console i.e. D-terminal cable. On the Gamec...

Re: Cloning the GameCube component cable
Pin 8's the actual Cabledetect(in most pinouts online they're both listed as "mode,") pin 10 is just 3.3v, so you can grab that from anywhere. Interesting, that means the pinout I found is incorrect - it claimed that pin 8 had to be grounded and suggested pin 10 as the closest source. If ...

Re: Cloning the GameCube component cable
Would it be possible for GCvideo to flag those pixels as non-active, so my TV doesnt treat them as part of the image and upscales without black borders? Or am I talking out of my ass here? :D It is basically possible, although I'm not sure if it would still fit in the (tiny) amount of space that is...

Re: Cloning the GameCube component cable
I still prefer dismantling a Cube over dismantling a Wii... http://www.gc-forever.com/forums/download/file.php?id=2127" Note that using such a setup is not recommended. The signal integrity sucks, to get a stable and flickering-pixel-freei image I had to hold up the 54MHz wire to keep it separa...

Re: Need a little advice on sound with Shuriken Video...
Cool. Would it be possible to have the IR transceiver built onto an add-on board which could be installed inside a Gamecube controller? Would be especially cool with Wavebird controllers. No, it would be an IR receiver on or in the same case as the GCVideo board and some random IR remote as transmi...

Re: Need a little advice on sound with Shuriken Video...
I take it that any external cable that might be released will also not have be able to have an OSD? Integrating support for an IR remote into the code is on my to-do list, but I need to optimize the code to free up more space first. I also need to figure out some usability problems, for example how...

Re: Need a little advice on sound with Shuriken Video...
I was wondering if there was anything I might need to do to activate audio via the Digital AV port, as the official leads don't carry audio? It appears that the board uses an XC3S50 FPGA, so there is no OSD where you could activate anything - it will either output audio or not, depending on the ver...

Indeed, I misremembered that - when an I2S receiver is the master device, the only signal driven by the sender is the data line.hornpipe2 wrote:Actually... AISLR may be Cube controlled too. Check this VHDL for the CrazyNation version?Unseen wrote:AISLR should be driven by the drive in either case.
